Important Notes

.make sure you save the model. (.fmz format)
.save rendered images as PICT format at 1024 x 768 resolution.
.all images are to be posted on websites as JPEGs.
.all files for the class are to named in the following format:

last_name.first_name.assignment_number.image_number.file_format

e.g. smith.john.a1.2.jpg


Assignment 1 / Table

      .create a table from a real example.

      .Use the transformation and boolean tools. 
      .use surface styles to give models materiality. 
      .generate 3 views:

      1. Best image, perspective 
      2. Close-up detail image 
      3. Composite document image showing planar view 
      (plan, elevations etc) and photo of original

      IMPORTANT NOTE: 
      
      The Class Gallery publishes only your first image 
      (of the three) for each assignment. Make sure your "best" image is number 1.
      If your image does not show up, please check that you have used the 
      correct file-naming convention (lower case, etc.): 
         jones.jane.a1.1.jpg  
      for the large file and  
         jones.jane.a1.1x.jpg 
      for the 160- x 120-pixel thumb-nail image.


Assignment 2 / Chair
      .create a chair from a real example.

      .the chair must have curvilinear elements. 
      .place all elements on separate layers. 
      .use texture maps. 
      .use at least two light sources / one to be shadow casting. 
      .render with shadows in renderzone. 
      .use alpha channel to place in a background with photoshop. 
      .generate 3 views:

      1. Best image, perspective w/o background 
      2. Exploded axonomentric showing constituent elements
      3. Composite document image showing chair placed in 
      a background image with photo of original.

Assignment Final / Model Analysis
      .model and analyze a portion of an unrealized architectural project.
      
      .elements in the building should be placed on separate layers.
      .use surface styles and textures.
      .use lighting and shadows.
      
      .perform an orginal analysis using the tools in CAD software. 
      .generate 3 views:
      
      1. best view.
      2. detail view.
      3. analysis view.
      
      .generate an animation fly-thru of your model.

Final Requirements
      Important dates

      - Final Submission Deadline all material: Monday, August 2. noon
      - Final Presentation was to have been july, 22, but has been 
      postponed until Tuesday evening, August 3.
   	  
      Animation

      - Maximum length to be 45 seconds. 
        (e.g. 5 sec. title / 30 sec. segment / 5 sec. fade out), 
        900 frame main segment @ 30 frames per second
      - 320 x 240 pixel
      - Music and sound


      Website

      - Cleaned, completed and updated with images
